Performance of conventional japonica rice in demonstration trials and under different cultivation methods

Abstract:

To investigate the adaptability and advantages of different conventional japonica rice varieties,and to provide a reference for the promotion and planting of different varieties in Wuxing District,this study analyzed the planting performance of 17 conventional japonica rice varieties in Wuxing District from the perspectives of growth period,effective panicle number,filled grain number per panicle,thousand-grain weight,theoretical yield,measured yield,and resistance. To further explore the trait performance and yield characteristics under different cultivation modes,this study used Zhejing 100 as the test variety and carried out three cultivation trials:mechanical transplanting,hole seeding,and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)direct seeding. The results showed that varieties such as Zhejing 78 and Xiushui 134 exhibited good overall field performance,with characteristics such as high yield and strong lodging resistance,making them suitable for promotion in pursuit of yield improvement. Varieties such as Changxiangjing 1813,Nanjing 46,and Zhehexiang 2 showed moderate lodging resistance and yield performance but had better rice quality,requiring certain cultivation techniques and water and fertilizer management measures,and were suitable for farmers aiming to develop the high-quality rice market. Under the three cultivation modes,Zhejing 100 performed best in terms of yield,lodging resistance and other indicators under mechanical transplanting,worst under UAV direct seeding,and intermediate under hole seeding. The hole seeding mode is a relatively suitable cultivation method for rice farmers who cannot meet the equipment and facility requirements for seedling raising and mechanical transplanting.
