Abstract:

The amylose content and gel consistency are key indicators of early indica rice quality, while the high amylose content and soft gel consistency rice quality type appears less frequently in early indica rice breeding materials. Zhezao 33 is a conventional early indica rice variety selected by Institute of Crop and Nuclear Technology Utilization, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Main Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2023. Zhezao 33 has good yield and stability, moderate resistance to rice blast, moderate maturity and plant type, and good color transformation in the later stage. The rice is suitable for grain processing purposes, with an amylose content of 29.3% and a gel consistency of 83.5 cm, respectively. It belongs to the high amylose content soft gel consistency rice quality type. The parental sources, breeding process, variety characteristics, and key cultivation techniques of Zhezao 33 were introduced in this article.
