Abstract:

Agricultural wholesale markets are a vital component of the agricultural product distribution system, and the scientific rigor of their preliminary planning and design directly affects their long-term sustainable development. To address the limitations of existing research on the planning and design of agricultural wholesale markets, this study examined representative comprehensive agricultural wholesale markets in Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Shanghai and developed an integrated planning framework encompassing scientific decision-making,master planning, operational design, and elasticity research. The results revealed a bidirectional relationship between market positioning and site selection. Under different socioeconomic conditions, the two should be coordinated to establish a clear and coherent planning logic. As a key indicator of development intensity,a floor area ratio of approximately 1.0 appeared more conducive to market operations. Regarding the functional mix,an excessive proportion of supporting commercial facilities may undermine the core trading function of market. Internal traffic organization should therefore be a key consideration in planning research. Elasticity control should also incorporate a dual-use mechanism for routine operations and emergency response to enhance market resilience. These findings provide a reference for the planning and development of new agricultural wholesale markets.
