Abstract:

Using seedlings of three eggplant varieties as experimental materials,a quadratic saturated D-optimal design was employed to investigate the regulatory effects of supplemental UV-B radiation during the dark period on eggplant seedling growth in protected cultivation. Mathematical models between seedling growth indicators and the seedling vigor index and UV-B radiation dose (including intensity and duration) were established, and the biological effects of UV-B radiation were systematically analyzed. The results showed that UV-B radiation significantly affected the growth indicators of eggplant seedlings, and the sensitivity to UV-B radiation varied among varieties. Model analysis revealed that with increasing UV-B radiation intensity or duration, plant height, shoot dry weight per plant, and root dry weight per plant of eggplant seedlings exhibited varying trends, while the seedling vigor index first increased and then decreased in all cases. There was a significant interaction between UV-B radiation intensity and treatment duration, and this interaction effect showed specificity among different varieties. Through simulation, the optimal UV-B radiation intensity and duration for cultivating vigorous seedlings of common eggplant in this experiment were 16.9-17.8 μW·cm-2 and 4.2 h·d-1,respectively;and for rootstock eggplant vigorous seedlings, the optimal values were 22.0-25.0 μW·cm-2 and 1.6-3.3 h·d-1,respectively.
