Abstract:

To investigate the regulatory effect of selenomethionine(SM)on the physiological status of broilers under high fluoride-induced oxidative stress conditions, this experiment selected yellow-feathered broilers with oxidative stress as the research subjects, and evaluated the effects of adding SM to the diet on growth performance, immune indicators, and serum biochemical indicators. 720 one-day-old Lingnan yellow-feathered broilers were randomly divided into 4 groups:control group(CON),sodium fluoride (HF) group, sodium selenite(SS) group, and SM group. The HF group added 800 mg·kg-1 sodium fluoride to the basal diet, while the SS group and SM group supplemented 0.15 mg·kg-1 SS and SM on the basis of the HF diet. The experimental period was 56 days. The results showed that compared with the CON group, the average daily weight of the HF group was significantly(p<0.05)reduced,the feed-to-weight ratio was significantly increased, the serum immunoglobulin levels and immune organ indices were significantly decreased, and the serum alanine aminotransferase activity, aspartate aminotransferase activity, lactate dehydrogenase activity, glucose content, and uric acid content were significantly increased. Compared with the HF group, selenium supplementation could improve the above changes to varying degrees. Among them,SM was superior to SS in improving growth performance, immune indicators, and alleviating abnormal serum biochemical indicators. In summary, under high fluoride-induced oxidative stress conditions, adding SM to the diet can help alleviate the adverse effects of oxidative stress on the physiological functions of yellow-feathered broilers.
