Abstract:

To study the effects of different biodegradable mulching films on the growth, yield and soil environment of taro,a comparative experiment was conducted on spring-sown taro using biodegradable film mulching, ordinary plastic film mulching and open-field cultivation. The growth of taro, soil environment and degradation of the mulching films were compared among different treatments. The results showed that biodegradable mulching films had significant soil warming effects and no significant influence on emergence rate and leaf age of taro. In terms of yield,Hongrui 8 performed best, being highly significantly(p<0.01)higher than the other treatments. Regarding degradation performance,Changfa 10 and Hongrui 8 degraded faster, while Jialemi 10 degraded slightly slower;by the time of taro harvest, the ridge surfaces of all biodegradable mulching film treatments had basically no film residue. In comprehensive comparison, biodegradable mulching films have certain advantages in taro production,as they can meet crop growth requirements and effectively control soil pollution, and thus can be promoted as substitutes for ordinary plastic films.
