Abstract:

To select superior provenances of Quercus acutissima suitable for cultivation in Shandong Province, this study used seedlings from five regions in Shandong(Tai'an,Qingdao,Laiwu,Yantai, and Linyi)as experimental materials, and systematically analyzed their seed morphological characteristics(seed length,width,100-seed weight, and length-width ratio)and seedling growth indicators(seedling height, basal diameter, and biomass allocation). The results showed significant (p0.05) differences in biomass and growth indicators among provenances, revealing obvious geographical variation. However, there was no significant difference in the root-shoot ratio among provenances, indicating that Q. acutissima maintains a relatively stable biomass allocation pattern across different geographical environments. Regarding seed traits, seed length was the most conservative, while 100-seed weight showed substantial variation. Overall, the Yantai and Qingdao provenances exhibited better seedling growth performance;whereas the Laiwu provenance performed poorly in most growth indicators. These findings provide a scientific basis for selecting superior provenances and regionalized cultivation of Q. acutissima.
