Abstract:

To investigate the effects of different soil amendments and application rates on the improvement of coastal saline-alkali soil in Zhoushan and their regulation on crop growth, sorghum was selected as the experimental material in coastal saline-alkali soil of Putuo District,Zhoushan City in 2023. Using no soil amendment as the control, three amendments, calcium sulfate, commercial organic fertilizer, and biochar, were employed to systematically compare their effects on the physicochemical properties of the saline-alkali soil and sorghum growth. The results showed that application of commercial organic fertilizers and biochar improved saline-alkali soil, with the T9 treatment(high application rate of biochar at 800 ke per 667 m2)performing the best. The T9 treatment resulted in the longest ear length, highest ear weight, and maximum thousand-kernel weight for sorghum,as well as the highest total nitrogen and phosphorus content in sorghum grains. Compared with CK,soil available phosphorus content were significantly(p<0.05)increased,indicating that high application rate of biochar was highly effective for improving coastal saline-alkali soil in Zhoushan.
